It is so good to have a whole bunch of unread books now when the Fall darkness is here again. To the left in my photo above you can see my new iris book by Claire Austin. Bokus my internetshop writes about the book: This comprehensive encyclopedia is a reference for iris enthusiasts everywhere. It offers information on a variety of irises and boasts more than 1000 stunning colour photographs. The author, drawing on experience, handpicked a vast array of irises perfect for gardeners, and highlights both popular and lesser-known varieties.
My review: Claire Austin (daughter to the rose guru David Austin) lives in Shropshire in England. She holds the National Collection of bearded irises at her and her husbands nursery Claire Austin Hardy Plants. For this book, 'Irises A Gardener's Encyclopedia' she won Winner of Garden Writers' Guild Award 2006. This is really a gorgeous encyclopedia with bearded and beardless irises suitable for gardens all over the world.
Nearly all photos in the book are Claires own and they are just fantastic with wonderful and true colours. A must have book for all iris lovers. I give the book 5 stars.
