Mosaic Monday

We have been taking a minivacation and visited our neighbouring country Denmark. I find lighthouses very interesting , so of course we took the opportunity to see some of the Danish. I think Rubjerg Knude is Denmark's most famous lighthouse.

Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse is situated on the North Sea coast of northern Jutland. The drifting sand dunes have slowly drenched the buildings around the lighthouse in sand. The Danish book 'Lys langs kysten'/'Lights along the coast' shows how it look only ten years ago when the buildings had to be abandoned. Rubjerg Knude is only Danish Lighthouse portrayed in Ian Penberthy's book 'Lighthouses' subtitle '75 most magnificent lighthouses in the world'

En annan vacker fyr: Hirtshals Fyr. A really lovely lighthouse: Hirtshals lighthouse.

To see more mosaics, please visit Mary in her dear little Red house.
Mary I do hope you don't have violent snowstorms and are without electricity this week too.......

  4. I really enjoyed this! The Great Dane and I have climbed the stairs of many Danish light houses. They are so well-kept and many have lovely cottage gardens at the base.

  5. I love lighthouses, so thankyou for sharing these with us - and the story of the shifting sand. I also thought I would like to stay in a lighthouse cottage - however no doubt the reality is different to the romantic view of it. Have a wonderful week.
